Welcome to the “Pucks With Haggs” page on Substack where yours truly will be regularly posting analysis, feature stories, columns and my own unfiltered thoughts on the NHL beat that I’ve lovingly covered for nearly two decades. Most of you may know me for my work covering the day-to-day activities of the Boston Bruins for the last 20 years dating back to when this guy was an 18-year-old shy kid from Quebec just trying to make the NHL team.

But here we’ll focus on the National Hockey League while occasionally veering out to all levels of hockey from a humble hockey writer that’s also a hockey dad, a USA Hockey certified coach and somebody that’s deeply cared about the beautiful game for a long, long time.

It’s thrilling to be able to give hockey fans my candid takes on national stories that dominate the headlines in the hockey world, or to occasionally bring my loyal followers the inside access that comes with having covered the NHL for almost 20 years.

The plan is to have exclusive videos and podcasts for loyal premium subscribers as we roll things out and to communicate with you, the readers, as much as I can throughout the season. I won’t be shy in the comments section or when doing Facebook Live videos where I can answer your burning questions throughout the season. Social media has brought an interactive element to sports media coverage that’s both valued and essential in this humble hockey writer’s opinion.
