'Youth' Served In Boston With Bruins Roster Decisions
Poitras, Beecher will start the year with the Bruins, Lohrei isn't far behind as one of the final cuts from camp
BOSTON – The Boston Bruins had some difficult roster decisions to come to grips with as training camp played out, and they continue on now as youngsters Matt Poitras and Johnny Beecher are all in the mix for NHL spots with the season opener just a couple days away.
The final cuts and transactions happened over the last few days as Mason Lohrei and Patrick Brown were the final cuts from the NHL roster, and energetic tough guy AJ Greer was claimed on waivers by the Calgary Flames.
That leaves Poitras and Beecher as youngsters to have made the NHL roster and Danton Heinen very likely to get signed to an NHL contract as the 13th forward on the Boston Bruins roster at this point. It’s not an out-and-out “youth movement”, but the emergence of Poitras and Beecher along with an exceedingly strong camp by Mason Lohrei puts a really different spin on the final roster for the Black and Gold.
