Why Has There Been No "Tango" With DeBrusk?
Jake DeBrusk is entering the final year of his deal with the Boston Bruins and there's been no substantial contract talks on a new deal. Will there be for the scoring winger?
PLYMOUTH, Mass – Jake DeBrusk is making no bones about where he wants to be for his long-term hockey future, and that is in Boston lighting lamps for the Bruins.
It’s quite the 180 degree turn from a few seasons ago when the talented 26-year-old winger was chafing under former head coach Bruce Cassidy and went as far as asking for a trade away from the Boston Bruins.
That never happened, obviously, and instead DeBrusk signed a two-year contract extension that’s set to run out at the end of this upcoming season. As he goes into the last year of his deal, it’s clear DeBrusk would like to initiate things with the Bruins on another extension even as the two sides haven’t really engaged in any substantial discussions to this point.
