The Wright Stuff For the Boston Bruins?
If the B's were going to trade promising, young goalie Jeremy Swayman, the only scenario that makes sense should be for a young, top flight center of the future for Boston
Rumor season is beginning to ramp up for trades, free agency signings and all kinds of offseason transactional stuff that is still being somewhat held up by the Stanley Cup Finals still going on this week.
It will all really begin to flow out around the late June draft in Nashville, but there’s already names being tossed around that are connected to the Boston Bruins. The biggest and most prominent is Edmonton Oilers Ryan Nugent-Hopkins after the 30-year-old enjoyed his best NHL season with 37 goals and 104 points.
Certainly, the cap hit (slightly north of $5 million per season) would make him attractive long term for the Boston Bruins, and that will spur on creative trade scenarios involving B’s players like Linus Ullmark, Matt Grzelcyk and, perhaps, Taylor Hall or Jake DeBrusk. An Ullmark for RNH swap makes sense on a lot of levels and would pretty much be a wash from a salary cap standpoint while robbing Peter (goaltending) to pay Paul (dearth of forwards).
But another interesting name has popped up on the Boston Bruins radar in the last few days.
