The Kids Are Looking Good For Boston Bruins
Poitras, Bussi and Beecher all stand out for the Black and Gold in their preseason opening win over the Rangers
BOSTON – Matthew Poitras admitted there were some stray nerves going into his preseason debut for the Boston Bruins on Sunday night against the New York Rangers.
After all the 19-year-old B’s prospect is coming into a training camp riding a hype that’s reached considerably high levels coming off a 95-point junior season for the Guelph Storm.
But at the end of the day, it’s all still just hockey and suiting up for an Original Six NHL team, so it was fun for the 2022 second round pick as well.
That’s essentially the same story for a bunch of youngsters that impressed in Boston’s 3-0 preseason victory over the Blueshirts at TD Garden to get the exhibition season going. Poitras scored the first preseason goal with a power play snipe under the arm of Rangers goalie Jonathan Quick and Johnny Beecher scored on a second period breakaway as well while 25-year-old goaltender Brandon Bussi finished with a 29-save shutout win.
All in all, most of the future actually looked pretty darn bright for the Black and Gold.
