Sweeney Caps Off Best Season As Bruins GM With NHL Award Nomination
For all the playoff first round failure at the feet of the Boston Bruins players and coaches, Sweeney crushed it as B's general manager in 2022-23
Congrats to Boston Bruins general manager Don Sweeney on earning his second finalist nomination as the NHL’s general manager of the year, a fitting honor after Boston’s record-breaking year.
Sweeney previously won the award after helping guide the Bruins to the 2019 Stanley Cup Final before falling painfully short in Game 7 against the St. Louis Blues, but truthfully has been among the NHL’s best managers for the last handful of seasons as he’s fully grown into the role guiding the Black and Gold.
From player development to shrewd trades, squeezing the most out of the salary cap, solid contract work with his own players and finding quality free agent signings like Linus Ullmark, the Boston Bruins do a lot of really good things out of their front office these days.
