Swayman Showing 'He Wants The Net' For B's
The Bruins All-Star goaltender proving he can handle a bigger workload during stretch with Linus Ullmark out of the lineup
BOSTON – Jeremy Swayman might not have been ready even a short year ago for the shot he’s been getting for the Boston Bruins these last two weeks.
“You can’t buy experience at Target,” admitted the 26-year-old B’s netminder, who is this season hitting the perfect crossroads in his career where past NHL experience and his natural ability are meeting to make him as good as he’s ever been at stopping pucks. “I know that…I want the net every night. That’s what I want my teammates to know, that’s what I want my coaches to know and that’s what I want this organization to know. I actually love being in the net. That’s where I’m most comfortable and it’s what I was born to do.
“Every opportunity I don’t take it for granted and I enjoy it to the fullest. I have a smile on my face every time and look forward to more.”
Right now he’s shining have played in five straight games (2-0-3, .922 save percentage) for the Black and Gold while Linus Ullmark is out with injury, and coming off the heels of a 31-save shutout in a 3-0 win over the New Jersey Devils on Monday afternoon.
