PWH Skate: Boston Bruins Kick Off NHL Camp
Some intriguing combos and pairings for the Black and Gold in the first skate of NHL training camp
BRIGHTON, MA – The first day of NHL training camp is in the books for the Boston Bruins and it was largely an uneventful day punctuated with some early nervousness, in the words of Bruins head coach Jim Montgomery.
“There’s a lot of excitement and with the excitement comes a little bit of nerves. You saw that at the beginning of both practices with the groups,” said Montgomery. “But the energy is terrific. Everybody is feeling great about their game right now.
“[My message is] details matter and we’re going to work on our details, and we’re going to work on our pace and execution really matters. When effort is required as far as being first on pucks when you’re in battle drills, those matter as well. It’s very simple.”
The most interesting aspect was probably the line combinations and defensemen pairings for the two different practice groups ahead of Sunday afternoon’s preseason opener against the New York Rangers at TD Garden.
