PWH Skate: Are We Short-Changing This Boston Bruins Team?
Much like last season, the Boston Bruins come into this season with lowered expectations. But are we making the same mistake we made last summer?
Are we all underestimating the Boston Bruins just as we did last season?
Just think about it. Most prognosticators, this humble hockey writer included, pegged the Black and Gold as a borderline playoff team last year that was likely at least wild card caliber, but one that had no chance of sniffing the Stanley Cup.
As it turned out that was true about the Cup-sniffing part, but that was only because of a very disappointing, stunning first round playoff fall at the hands of the Florida Panthers. As it turned out, the Boston Bruins were wire-to-wire the NHL’s best team last season and were ticketed as the prohibitive Cup favorite after smashing NHL records with 65 wins and 135 points last season.
Even if the B’s dropped 30 points from last season’s gaudy totals, they would still be a playoff team this year.
