'Proud' Moment For Marchand As Boston Bruins Captain
The Boston Bruins winger was a crossroads five years ago, but took the path with the B's that led to him being named the 27th captain in franchise history
BRIGHTON, MA – Boston Bruins winger Brad Marchand said it was a phone conversation with his younger brother, Jeff, after learning he’d become the 27th captain of the Original Six franchise that really crystallized everything for him.
“I thought about it pretty hard this morning on the drive over to the rink about how it all happened,” said Marchand. “It’s not something that you ever expect. My brother, when I told him, said something to me along the lines of ‘four or five years ago everybody hated you and now you’re turning around and you’re the captain of the team.’ It’s pretty incredible the way things change.
