Poitras Sticking Around For Boston Bruins
Though it was a no-brainer for the B's to keep the 19-year-old around, it's going to be interesting to see how this rookie season plays out
BRIGHTON, MA – There probably shouldn’t have been much in the way of intrigue or mystery given the way the first few weeks have gone, but it became official on Tuesday that 19-year-old Matt Poitras will be a Boston Bruins moving forward.
Given the way he’s played early in his NHL career, Poitras looks like could be a Boston Bruin for the next decade. The young center had one of his rougher rookie performances last weekend against the Florida Panthers, but overall he’s been outstanding with three goals and five points in nine games along with a plus-4 rating in 15:13 of ice time. It hasn’t just been the offense provided, either, as Poitras’ competitiveness, his maturity level and his consistency have all impressed as a teenager competing at the NHL level.
