Poitras Has Earned His NHL Spot With Boston Bruins
The talented 19-year-old should at least get an NHL look in the first few weeks before they make the ultimate decision on this season for him
BOSTON – The Black and Gold jury should be in at this point when it comes to 19-year-old Matt Poitras.
After scoring his second goal and fourth point in his fourth preseason game earlier this week and pushing his way into Thursday night’s preseason finale against the New York Rangers at Madison Square Garden, it feels like the best move is to carry this Poitras train over into the regular season.
After all, the Boston Bruins would get up to 9 NHL games to continue evaluating the playmaking, cerebral center before they would need to either send him back to the Guelph Storm or commit to him being an NHL player for the season. That would give Poitras the keys to the Black and Gold sports care for a longer audition with real NHL talent defending and hitting him while also getting a legit look-see to see if the passing, won battles and offensive spark continues into the regular season.
