Poitras Focused On 'A Few Things To Clean Up'
The 19-year-old Bruins rookie is coming off a healthy scratch and riding the pine in the third period of Saturday's win over the Coyotes
BRIGHTON, MA – Everyone around the Boston Bruins knew there would be ups and downs to 19-year-old Matt Poitras’ first NHL season once it was determined he was going to stick around with the big club.
There were plenty of peaks as he posted four goals and seven points in his first 11 NHL games while surprisingly pushing his way into Boston’s regular season plans, but it’s been a bit more of a valley lately with one goal and five points over the last 14 games, including riding the pine in the third period of Boston’s 5-3 win over the Arizona Coyotes last weekend.
Being left out of a shortened bench situation came on the heels of being a healthy scratch against Buffalo last week as well, so it all seemed like an opportune time for a midseason meeting between head coach and young player.
