No Lysell, Merkulov at B's Rookie Camp
The Bruins brass opted to hold out the two talented youngsters for NHL training camp, a sign they will get long looks with the veteran group
The Bruins rookie spent the last two days skating, undertaking drills and getting ready for the Prospect Showcase in Buffalo this weekend, which will get started with a noontime game against the Pittsburgh Penguins prospects.
Missing amongst their ranks were Fabian Lysell and Georgii Merkulov, the two best offensive prospects currently in the Bruins prospect pipeline and skilled players that are expected to compete for NHL jobs over the next weeks. Both could have joined the group headed to Buffalo for the weekend rookie camp because they are still most definitely rookies, and they would have been following the same path that Johnny Beecher, Matt Poitras and Mason Lohrei took to winning jobs in Boston last season.
