McAvoy 'Couldn't Be Happier' To Serve In Bruins Leadership Group with Captain Marchand
Charlie McAvoy and David Pastrnak will be part of a "leadership-by-committee" style that's been with the Boston Bruins since long before arrived on the scene
BRIGHTON, MA – It was a blur of a summer by any standard for Boston Bruins defenseman Charlie McAvoy.
The 25-year-old got married to longtime girlfriend Kiley Sullivan on the Boston University campus where they met and enjoyed the reception at the Boston Public Library after a long summer of zoom meetings with their wedding planner and the village it takes to pull off a successful wedding ceremony.
“The wedding planner was a rock star and Kiley was great,” said a smiling McAvoy. “It was perfect and I didn’t do [anything]. I just had to show up. It was great.”
And you know it’s a big deal when your wedding ends up being mentioned in People Magazine.
But McAvoy also got in plenty of time working out on the ice this summer, as opposed to a season ago where his offseason workout and maintenance plan was wiped out by shoulder surgery. That leaves the B’s workhorse defenseman primed for a full, monster season and that was all capped off by McAvoy being named one of the permanent alternate captains wearing the “A” on his sweater alongside David Pastrnak.
