It's A New World Order For Boston's Beanpot
Harvard and Northeastern made history at the Beanpot as they'll meet in the Final for the first time in 70 years
BOSTON -- In case you missed, this winter’s edition of the Beanpot college hockey tournament will feature something that’s never happened in the 70 years that Boston College, Boston University, Northeastern and Harvard have set aside February dates on Monday night to play hockey.
After Monday night’s opening round at TD Garden, the Harvard Crimson and Northeastern Huskies have advanced and will meet in next Monday’s Beanpot title game for the first time in the storied history of the tourney. The Crimson did their part of making history in thrilling fashion with Marek Hejduk, son of former NHL sniper Milan Hejduk, scoring the OT game-winner with 1.5 seconds remaining just before the 5 pm early game was going to head to the shootout.
The 4-3 final score in OT doesn’t really do justice to how wild the final half of the hockey game was for both sides.
