How On Earth Did Ullmark Get Fined By the NHL?
The Boston Bruins goaltender was fined $5K for defending himself after being violently crashed by a Lightning forward
There are times, most of the time in actuality, when the decisions made by the NHL Department of Player Safety make total sense. Reckless players looking to injure opponents are penalized with impunity and actions seen as dangerous are called out to make players aware there will be tolerance for such behavior.
But there are also decisions and punitive measures taken that make little sense to fans, media and the players alike. I’m not sure I’ll ever agree with the NHL’s decision to fine Bruins goalie Linus Ullmark the maximum allowing $5000 for a high stick leveled at Michael Eyssimont during Tuesday night’s 3-2 shootout loss to the Tampa Bay Lightning at TD Garden.
