Heinen 'Happy to Be Back' With Boston Bruins
The 28-year-old former Bruins winger is back in Boston on a training camp tryout amid a crowded field of candidates for NHL gigs
BRIGHTON, MA – It felt like not much had changed when old friend Danton Heinen was decked out in Boston Bruins gear by his locker stall after a captain’s practice to knock the rust off at Warrior Ice Arena on Monday morning.
Heinen signed a training camp tryout agreement with the Boston Bruins to come in and compete for a spot over the next couple of months, and there were plenty of welcome back texts from Charlie Coyle, Brandon Carlo and other former teammates. But the truth is that much has changed with the 28-year-old as he’s bounced around to a few teams after he was traded straight up to Anaheim for beefy power forward Nik Ritchie back in the 2019-20 NHL season.
