Geekie Stepping Up Into Expanded Bruins Role
Injuries and Matt Poitras departure for World Juniors has opened things up for the rugged center to produce, step into a bigger role
BRIGHTON, MA – When apprised of the news after Thursday’s practice at Warrior Ice Arena, Morgan Geekie hadn’t yet heard that his current Bruins teammate Matt Poitras and younger brother Conor Geekie started out on the same line together at the same day’s Team Canada practice for the upcoming IIHF World Junior tournament in Sweden.
But it made sense to the elder Geekie for the playmaking, skilled Poitras and his brother, the gifted 19-year-old first round pick of the Arizona Coyotes, to potentially be skating together on a top line in the international tournament.
