B's Begin Picking Up Pieces At Breakup Day
As they packed their lockers at Warrior Ice Arena, the Bruins looked ahead to better days next season
BRIGHTON, MA – It was Boston Bruins breakup day and the bottom line among the players was that this season wasn’t good enough.
That’s not surprising as the Bruins lost 21 of their final 28 games to completely drop out of the playoff running and in doing so ended a string of eight consecutive Stanley Cup playoff appearances under Don Sweeney’s tenure as general manager. The Bruins didn’t completely throw in the towel despite being consistently outgunned once they traded Charlie Coyle, Brandon Carlo, Trent Frederic and Brad Marchand at the NHL trade deadline, and even dropped to fifth in the NHL Draft lottery after notching one last point in the overtime loss to the New Jersey Devils in their regular season finale.
